Many people, me included insist on bringing their English right hand drive car to Spain with them, when they move over

I looked at what a dealer would offer in the UK, knowing the fact I was emigrating along with wanting to keep the car until the last possible moment before the move. We all know house sales can fall through at the last moment and there is nothing worse than being left without transport.

So I made the same mistake many other British ex pats have made and brought the car over with me, in the hope that if I did not get on with driving a right hand drive car in Spain, I would simply trade it in at an auto traders forecourt and get something more suitable

Needless to say, I never got on with driving my rhd car in Spain.

They can be as much use as a chocolate tea pot, in all honesty

Overtaking was one of the worst parts about driving a rhd drive car here.

Your also more prone to being pulled up by the police and I also found that the sports suspension and wheels took a rather nasty dislike to Spanish roads.

When it came to trading the car in, to get something more suited to the Spanish roads and terrain, we found very few car dealers if any would even consider buying or part exchanging the car, even against a brand new car from a main dealer

You will find quite a lot of British right hand drive cars being advertised on ebay from sellers in Spain, I can only assume for similar reasons to what I found

My only advice to anyone, thinking of bringing a British right hand drive car to Spain with them when they move over full time is not to bother. No matter how silly the price you get offered by a car dealer in the UK for your car, you will get a lot less most of the time in Spain.

Left hand drive cars on British plates, can be purchased in the UK dirt cheap and are worth considering, if you intend to bring a car on English number plates into Spain with you and still have the use of a car whilst your house sells in England
